When the snow melts in Park City, the rivers run high, the trails turn emerald green, and the mountains become the ultimate outdoor classroom and playground for families.
Here’s a 3-day itinerary that blends adventure, connection, and comfort.
Day 1: Whitewater Rafting on the Weber River

Morning: Family Whitewater Adventure
There is no better way to kick off your Park City trip than with guided rafting on the scenic Weber River. This is the closest rafting adventure to Park City, and a perfect way to kick off a summer trip to Utah.
This stretch is ideal for families and features:
- Splashy Class I–II rapids – exciting, but not scary
- Calm sections for all ages to kick back and enjoy the canyon scenery
- Chance to spot raptors like eagles and hawks along the way
Whitewater rafting builds teamwork fast — everyone paddles together, laughs together, and celebrates every rapid passed and every rock avoided. For younger kids, it’s a thrilling but safe introduction to adventure. For teens, it delivers just enough adrenaline to feel epic. This is a great introduction to whitewater rafting for all ages.
Rafting typically starts in early June, and with it brings warm sunshine and perfect river days.
Why rafting works so well for families:
It’s active, engaging, and fully guided — so parents can enjoy while kids build confidence. Children 4 years and older (as long as they can swim) are welcome to join in this adventure!
Afternoon: Explore Historic Main Street

After your river adventure, head to Park City’s Main Street for a relaxed afternoon and some yummy grub. If it’s a Sunday, you should catch our local market, Park Silly! Park Silly is typically open each Sunday June-September, but check out their posted dates online to be sure.
Pro tip: If you’d rather eat lunch right after rafting, be sure to add our lunch option when you book – we use a local caterer and they never disappoint. We’ll have it set up & ready for you when you return to the river launch site. Seriously, is there anything better than a big sandwich after a day on the water?
Family favorites include:
- Ice cream and candy shops – perfect for younger kids to grab a tasty souvenir!
- Casual patio dining – rooftops & patios are abundant on Main St. and a great place to soak up some sunshine in the evenings.
- Easy strolling with high end shopping
- Art galleries and souvenir stops
It’s the perfect balance of energy and downtime after a big river morning.
Day 2: Guided Hiking & Alpine Views
Morning: Private Family Hiking Adventure

Park City’s trail system is one of its greatest assets! Locals enjoy world class hikes all summer, and we can’t wait to show them off to you. Check out our hiking page here to read more about our many different options!
Options range from:
- Shaded forest hikes at a leisurely pace for families with younger kids
- Creekside trails with natural exploration stops in the Uinta National Forest
- Historical trail hikes for older kids & adults to learn about Park City’s history
- Wildflower-filled meadows in late spring – perfect for some candid family photos!
A private guide ensures:
- Appropriate pacing for your group
- Plenty of breaks, whenever you need them
- Fun interpretation and local insight
- Routes tailored to your group’s energy without the pressure to push paces
Hiking here isn’t just exercise — it’s immersive mountain time that allows kids & parents alike to unplug and explore.
Afternoon: Scenic Lift Ride & Leisurely Hike Down
Take a scenic chairlift at Park City Mountain for panoramic alpine views without a strenuous climb.
Families can:
- Walk downhill scenic trails
- Take those unforgettable family photos
- Optional: come down on the alpine coaster!
Day 3: Guided Mountain Biking
Morning or afternoon adventure

Depending on your family’s energy level, consider guided mountain biking on beginner-friendly terrain (ages 8+). Click the link to be taken to our MTB page and read more about our offerings!
Our most popular option is our 2 Hour Local Mountain Biking Tour. This gives you a solid block of riding time without going overboard – you can always book again for tomorrow!
Highlights include:
- Beginner flow trails perfect for younger kids & beginners or intermediate riders of any age
- Large range of bike sizes to accommodate the whole family
- Round Valley Trail System, located conveniently in Park City with over 50 miles of trails
