There’s something magical about the holidays in the mountains with family. Picture bundled up kids in the hats their great aunt knit them, catching softly falling snowflakes on their tongues. This isn’t just a fantasy, it’s real life (or real vacation life) in picturesque Park City, Utah.
This time of year, the school year is no longer new. Weather has been cold for awhile, and we all frankly need a break. But the learning doesn’t stop when winter break starts. Mother Nature is the best teacher for young and old alike. We live and die by this philosophy at All Seasons Adventures. We would love to share a special holiday experience with you and your family. Here are a few of our favorite ideas.
1. Photograph Your Family on a Winter Hike
There’s typically one photo lover in every family. They’re the ones who never seem to be in the picture, forever behind the lens. Take home some extra precious memories of your loved ones in an epic snow-covered, tree-lined setting in the mountains. If there’s just a little snow, a hike with crampons might be the ticket. If the early season Snow Gods have been good to us, we’ll take you on a snowshoe tour suited to your family’s abilities. The hardest part will be deciding which photo to frame.
2. Work Off a Holiday Meal XC Skiing
We believe calorie counting is for the birds. But there’s no ignoring the delicious assortment of cuisine available in Park City. And there’s something about the holidays that makes us all a little more comfortable with that extra dinner roll. So don’t sweat it. Or do… with a fabulous family friendly cross-country skiing tour. You’ll thank yourself later.
3. Build Confidence on the Ice
Ice Skating is a great winter activity that takes balance and coordination. This is a great challenge for everyone from young kids to novice adults. There is opportunity for families to learn and bond over the experience. Strap on a pair of rental skates and head to the outdoor ice arenas at Park City Mountain or Homestead in Midway, or the indoor arena in Round Valley. We don’t offer guided ice skating, but we’d be happy to point you to the right location.
4. Have a Friendly Competition Trap Shooting
If your family consists of children ages 12 or older, one of our highly recommended Park City adventures is Trap Shooting. We are all about safety first, and we begin each tour with a safety talk, private instruction, safety glasses and ear plugs. If you have any concerns about this activity for your family, we’d be happy to chat with you. Give us a call at (435) 649-9619.
5. Explore a Blue Ribbon River Ecosystem in Winter
Let your guides tell you all about what happens to the fish in the winter, and feel the phenomenon of stepping into icy cold waters while staying dry and warm in your waiters. This excursion is suitable for ages 8 and up, and our guides will advise you on the best attire in advance of your trip. If you haven’t experienced fly fishing in the winter, we highly recommend it! It’s something your family will never forget.
6. Rev Up Your Energy, And Engines
Snowmobiling is fun for almost every age. Our tours are appropriate for 5 and up. In fact, we’ve found that our youngest “beelers” are the most excited by the sound of the engine, speeding through the snow and bouncing over “whoop de do’s”. This is a great way to get outside with your family and enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery this country has to offer.
